(06/02/2012)
ECWA- Raising the Bar
Newark, Delaware–“The Greek God” Papadon successfully retained “Big Red” – the East Coast Wrestling Association (ECWA) Heavyweight Title – against one of independent wrestling’s rising stars, in Adam Cole tonight at ECWA “Raising The Bar” in a nearly 30-minute affair. The only question is … what will “The best unsigned talent in professional wrestling” do next?
Meanwhile, Papadon’s compatriot and boss Mike Tartaglia had a much more difficult night in the ring, losing his newly bought ECWA Mid-Atlantic Championship belt in just his first title defense, against Mr. Ooh La La. All that, plus a smashingly painful loss for former Tri-State Wrestling Alliance (TWA) Heavyweight Title-holder Breaker Morant in his falls-count-anywhere match with new champion “Heart Killer” Chris Wyle, and a crazy first-time tag team encounter between ECWA Tag Team Champions Fusion-DS and the high-flying team of Bandido Jr. and Azrieal.
ECWA “Raising the Bar” was promoted as a night of nearly all first-time-ever matches, and it did not disappoint for the VERY electric Greater Newark Boys and Girls Club crowd.
“Beautiful” Bobby Shields (with Joel “Blackhart” Goodhart vs. Cole Callaway
Blackheart member Bobby Shields clearly underestimated the always-upbeat Callaway, and fell victim to his high-flying attack early. Outside of the ring, Shields was able to ground the rainbow-emblazoned competitor by ramming his back into the ring apron, then continuing to punish his back inside the ring with a series of punishing suplexes, charges into the corner, and dropkicks. In the end, Shields’ aggression proved too much for Callaway, and he pinned him w/ the Gory bomb.
Tina San Antonio vs. Jessie Kaye
Jessie Kaye was all fun in the beginning of this match, dancing and playing with the Newark, Delaware crowd as Tina San Antonio looked on menacingly. It was not long before a screeching San Antonio punished Kaye with a front-face-lock that appeared to rip the face right off of the popular Kaye. In the end, a few evasive maneuvers were enough to get Kaye out of the situation, rolling up her blonde opponent for the win.
ECWA Unified Tag Team Championship – FUSION-DS (Damian Dragon & Matt Saigon) (c) vs. Azrieal and Bandido Jr.
It was a long feeling-out period, early, for champions and challengers, prior to Bandido Jr. and Azrieal taking charge with a series of strong aerial moves. Unfortunately for Jr. & Az, Fusion-DS would soon take advantage of a mistake to hit their opponents with some timely double-team moves and, ultimately, catching a prone Bandido Jr. on the top turnbuckle allowing DS to hit the FUSION Destroyer on Az for the win.
“Another night, another successful defense,” crowed Dragon as the duo entered the back. “Joe Zanolle (ECWA matchmaker) is going to have no idea what to do with us because we’ll have vanquished everybody.” “All I can say is he better find somebody soon to give us more of a challenge,” mirrored the equally smug Matt Saigon.
Aden Chambers vs. Kekoa The Flyin Hawaiian
A real-life dream encounter for ECWA fans between ECWA Grand-Slam Champion Aden Chambers and former Mid-Atlantic Champion Kekoa may have given birth to one of the most fiercely contested, one-on-one rivalries in the soon-to-be-45-year history of the company. Whereas the tag title match started out slow with the opponents feeling each other out, Kekoa and Chambers took the action to one another almost immediately. Everything from aerial combat to suplexes to vicious punches, kicks, and chops were on display.
In the end, Chambers looked poised to pin Kekoa with a superplex off the top rope that rocked The Greater Newark Boys and Girls Club, and seemingly sent Kekoa into more of a losing streak. This time, however, Kekoa was able to roll through and hook his leg on Chambers for the pinfall win.
“Kid America” Mike Kehner vs. “Greatest American Hero” Corey Blaze
For the now-unmasked Kid America, it was clear that he had a real grudge to settle. Mike Kehner would take it to Corey Blaze from the opening bell, punishing his opponent with an assault for nearly five minutes before locking on a choke hold on Blaze and getting disqualified for his aggressive behavior.
After the match an irate Kehner announced he was fed up with Corey Blaze, noting that their next match in July would have to be their last ever. It was then that Kid America challenged Blaze to a Stretcher Match!
ECWA Mid-Atlantic Championship – “The Boss” Mike Tartaglia (c) (with Ricky “The Model” Martinez and PR Agent Gus Grande) vs. Mr. Ooh La La (with Coach Jim Shorts)
Earlier in the night, Mike Tartaglia would come out to the ring to the absolute disgust of the traditional ECWA crowd which had grown accustomed to his antics in the ring and constant attempts at buying success. It was not long before Tartaglia would call out ECWA’s special guest for the evening, Stacy “The Kat” Carter. It is no secret that Tartaglia – who has made the ECWA his own vanity project as late by promoting only himself – has long had a crush on the former Miss Kitty. In one of his more obnoxious displays, Tartaglia made an attempt to lure Carter to be his wife, showing her disgusting before-and-after pictures of what her life could be like. Sadly, the entire presentation would end with a gag-reflex-inducing shot of Tartaglia and Carter, arm-in-arm that left the fans chanting “Photoshop!” Carter promised to seal the deal with a kiss, wrapping a bandanna around The Boss’ eyes. It was then that the night went awry for Tartaglia, as she quietly summoned Ooh La La, Shorts, and Cole Callaway, who would kiss the Boss to Tartaglia’s absolute disgust.
At the start of the actual match, Tartaglia proceeded to run down Ooh La La, even handing him the dreaded envelope of money that, fortunately, Ooh La La turned down. In response, Tartaglia welcomed Ricky “The Model” Martinez and Press Agent Gus Grande to stand in his corner at ringside. Tartaglia dominated much of the match, using underhanded tactics to attempt to maintain his control every time Ooh La La started to rally. One bright spot in the match came when the Greater Newark Boys and Girls club crowd erupted in a chant of “Toss the Boss!” To their delight, Mr. Ooh La La was quick to oblige by throwing Tartaglia over the top rope to the outside. After landing a devastating second-rope bulldog on the fiery Frenchman, The Boss appeared to have the match won. To everyone’s utter shock, however, Ooh La La summoned the inner strength needed to kick out at two, and – after The Kat ran down and distracted her #1 Fan with a long kiss – rolled him up for the three-count.
After the match, the audience erupted in a rocking chant of “Ooh La La” that will not soon be forgotten.
Tri-State Wrestling Alliance Heavyweight Championship – “Heart Killer” Chris Wylde (c) vs. Breaker Morant (with Joel Goodhart)
Chris Wylde and Breaker Morant took their fight to the outside early, before making their way back into the ring where Wylde tried to take to the air. When he climbed to the top rope, he was knocked to the outside by Breaker and nearly assaulted by Joel Blackheart with a bowling pin. Wylde would catch the weapon, turning around and throwing it hard into Breaker’s shoulder for an audibly painful thud. This prompted an all-out brawl between the two into the crowd, involving tables, stretchers, walls, kendo sticks, and anything else the two could get their hands on, including a car in the parking lot! After fighting nearly to the outside, the two would scale the scaffolding that holds together the ECWA entrance-way, brawling in front of the big screen before Wylde was able spear Morant 15 feet in the air and through a table to pick up the win.
Following this shocking, mortifying, violent conclusion, Wylde was attacked by Morant’s stablemate Bobby Shields. After Kekoa came down to make the save, a physically and emotionally exhausted Heart Killer challenged the faction to a War Games match in July. Who knows what will be in store?!

ECWA Heavyweight Championship – “The Greek God” Papadon (c) vs. Adam Cole
On this night, “The Greek God” was just a little bit better. Papadon sustained a flurry of aerial and other offensive moves from the current Ring of Honor up-and-comer – and ECWA Super 8 2011 alum – Cole, including Cole hitting of a very John Cena-esque Attitude Adjustment, Cole’s reversal of a Papadon back-splash into a rollup, and Cole moving out of the way of a Papadon top-rope splash, all for very close 2-1/2 counts. The combatants had each other scouted so well that they would use each other’s finishers on their opponent for near falls, including Papadon hitting the Panama Sunrise on Papadon and Cole catching Papadon with the Alpha-Omega (shining wizard). At the end of the day, Papadon was able to pin Cole with the Wrath of God (a top rope superplex which upon impact with the mat, Papadon rolls back into a standing position to hit the piledriver), ending more than 27 minutes of excitement.
“At the end of the day, this was not a battle to win my respect, as has been with so many others,” said Papadon as he threw a towel over his head in the back. Adam already had my utmost respect for all he has accomplished in the ring. This was a battle between two emerging stars in this business, and I have no doubt that our careers will cross paths again. Maybe even in WWE. We’re both that good.”

July 16, 2011
1. Russian Assassin w/ Mr. Ooh La La (subbing for Coach Jim Shorts) defeated Kid America. Post match America was able to gain possession of the Russian Flag. With Russian Assassin still in possession of America’s USA Flag, America challenged Assassin (who accepted) to a Flag Match Sept 24th at the 44th Anniversary Show!
A. A video is played announcing the return of the 2011 ECWA SUPER 8 Champion TOMMASO CIAMPA on Sept 24th, 2011 in Newark, Delaware at the 44th Anniversary Show!
B. ECWA/TWA Owner Mike Tartaglia came out with ECWA Heavyweight Champion “Greek God” Papadon to insult and run down fans and went so far as to physically intimidate a pair of sisters to bow to Papadon while Papadon roughed up their cousin.
2. “Fighting Paramedic” Corey Blaze defeated Black Panther.
3. HANDICAP MATCH: AHTU defeated “Revolution” Mozart Fontaine & “Pitbull” Timothy Richards w/ Sebastian Night. Mozart argued with Sebastian and eventually walked out on him and Richards while AHTU pinned Richards.
4. DJ HYDE Challenge Match: Bazooka Joe defeated “Chainsaw” Joe Gacy w/ DJ Hyde. Hyde came out with another referee this month since it was so effective on May 7th. This time he came out with an imposter John Finegan. The imposter ran down the “real deal” for a few minutes, but the real Finegan busted out a high dropkick that sent the imposter running to the dressing room leaving DJ Hyde all on his own. Hyde continued to interfere during the match but it eventually backfired when he threw Gacy brass knuckles. Gacy missed a big swing as Joe ducked and then hit his finisher. Much to the disappointment of Joe and the fans, Hyde revealed that he will actually be on tour in England Sept 24th, killing Joe’s hopes of having a match with DJ. Things got out of hand as DJ and Gacy attacked Joe before Joe made a comeback and cleared the ring.
5. SHOCKWAVE the Robot & Cole Calloway defeated Mr. Ooh La La & Kacee Carisle with Magnum & Gus Grand. After weeks of guessing who SHOCKWAVE’s partner was, much to the chagrin of Ooh La La and his camp, the big surprise turned out to be Cole Calloway!!! This was probably one of the most unusal matches in ECWA history that included Ooh La La coming out to “IRON MAN” wearing an Iron Man Mask and Glo Sticks and draped in Christmas lights to mock Shockwave! When Magnum plugged the lights in, Ooh La La lit up like a Christmas tree and “did the robot” before the lights started to burn his body hair sending him in a frenzy! The end came when Calloway schoolboyed the Frenchmen for the pin!
6. “Hitman” Tony Stetson and JJ the Crew Guy fought to a Double Countout.
7. Kekoa the Flyin’ Hawaiian pulled off a huge win over Adam Cole. Kekoa scouted Cole well and blocked the Panama Sunrise. Cole was also able to evade Kekoa’s finisher, but fell victim to a cradle pin seemingly out of nowhere. Cole, unhappy, asked for and has been granted a rematch on October 15, 2011 in Newark, DE!
8. ECWA/TWA Unified Tag Team Title Match: “FUSION DS” Matt Saigon & Damian Dragon defeated “Midnight Sensations” Chris Rockwell & Sam Shields via DQ when the Sensations introduced chairs and a ladder. DS challenged the Sensations to a rematch on Sept 24th, this time in a ladder match.
9. ECWA Heavyweight Title Match: “Greek God” Papadon retained his title over Mid-Atlantic Champion “Heart Killer” Chris Wylde in a classic back and forth encounter with the Alpha-Omega (aka shining wizard)! Many fans have touted this as the best match in recent ECWA History. Following the match, Papadon did an interview addressing his Sept 24th challenger, Tommaso Ciampa. If Ciampa wins, he is the new ECWA Champion; if Papadon wins, he is in the 2012 ECWA Super 8 Tournament!

“Hitman” Tony Stetson is a product of Larry Sharpe’s original famed MONSTER FACTORY in South New Jersey. Stetson debuted 26 years ago on WWF TV Poughkeepsie, NY against a fellow MONSTER FACTORY alumnus, the late WWE legend Bam Bam Bigelow.
Stetson actually played a very important part in the evolution of pro wrestling in the Northeast as he, along with rival Johnny Hot Body and Larry Winters and DC Drake brought blood and brawls to Philadelphia in Joel Goodhart’s original Tri-State Wrestling Alliance (TWA) in 1990. Stetson was hardcore before hardcore was a term used. After TWA closed, Stetson helped lay the groundwork in Eastern/Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) which led to the Attitude Era in WWF. Ironically, being one of the founding fathers of hardcore is what kept Stetson from appearing in ECWA back in that time, as hardcore was not the ECWA style.
After years of injuries, Stetson retired for several years only to resurface at the TWA REUNION SHOW in Oct 2009 and he has been going strong since. Stetson became embroiled in a BRUTAL feud w/ former ECWA Heavyweight Champion “The Beast” Glen Osbourne in the TWA, as Stetson was one of Osbourne original trainers in 1990. Osbourne turned on Stetson in April of 2010 costing him the TWA Heavyweight Championship, which led to chain matches, NO-DQ matches, last man standing matches and ultimately a cage match which saw Stetson victorous and caused injury to Osbourne that he is still feeling the effects of today.
Still feeling the effects of the Osbourne feud, Stetson found himself in the middle of another rivalary with Osbourne REVOLUTION team mate, another former ECWA Heavyweight Champion, JJ the Crew Guy. Stetson and JJ had a brutal Pins Count Anywhere on the Ballfield Match at TWA in Sewell, NJ on April 9th. Their paths crossed again at the Super 8 ECWA/TWA Battle Royal in Voorhees, NJ on April 30th. Most recently, it was at the ECWA in Newark, DE on May 7th, when Stetson was visiting and watching the matches in the crowd with friends the Saffer and Greenberg families when Stetson got into a verbal confrontation with JJ following his elimination in the ECWA Rumble for a Mid-Atlantic Title Shot. The confrontation got physical quick and saw the two brawl ringside to the backstage area.
Be there as a TWA Original takes on an ECWA Original in a match that is sure to get WILD!

Black Panther made his ECWA debut at the 15th Annual ECWA Super 8, April 30, 2011, in the ECWA/TWA Battle Royal. Another ECWA newcomer, AHTU, also made his ECWA debut in that very same match.
One week later, in Newark, Delaware, the two met in their first singles match. Considering the fact that AHTU is several times larger than Panther, you have to admit Panther has the guts and determination to make it in the ECWA. During their match, Panther sustained a blow to the head that required medical attention post match in the locker room. The irony is, one of the medics who attended to Panther was “the Fighting Paramedic” Corey Blaze, the man that Panther will meet in just a few days.
Panther shows true heart returning after the beating he sustained at the hands of AHTU, and shows no signs of stopping. Blaze, an ECWA veteran and local crowd favorite, is looking to make a mark on the eve of ECWA’s 44th Anniversary. Be there July 16th to see which of these ECWA stars will emerge the victor.

When Shockwave the Robot found himself without a tag team partner for his big mixed tag team match versus Mr. Ooh La La and his partner Kacee Carlisle on July 16th in Newark, Delaware, the question on everyone’s mind in ECWA was who will be the partner of wrestling’s only break-dancing, wrestling robot? Will it be Brittany Force? Marti Belle? Melissa Coates? Trixie Lynn? Tina San Antonio? Or maybe a Diva or a Knockout?
SHOCKWAVE recently said he found his partner, but he is keeping it a surprise.
We spoke to Kacee Carlisle, and asked her who she thought her opponent on July 16th will be. Kacee simply replied, “IT DOESN’T MATTER!” Kacee said it doesn’t matter who Shockwave brings to Newark, Delaware, she is not going to let them ruin her ECWA debut. “I will tell you this, whoever that Robot got had better bring their A game and be ready for a long, long night!”
For info and tix call 609.220.5598 or email email@example.com
SHOCKWAVE the Robot has not been around lately, because he has been searching high and low for the perfect tag team partner to face Mr. Ooh La La and Kacee Carisle on July 16th in Newark, Delaware.
SHOCKWAVE said that he used some of the more popular wrestling news sites, PWI Magazine and a new software program that determines the strengths and weakness of all the women wrestlers in his vast database to determine the ultimate partner.
He said while time consuming and tedious, he is confident that his flawless research regime picked the perfect partner for him.
However, SHOCKWAVE has said that he is going to keep the identity of his partner a secret for now. Mr. Ooh La La has been poking fun and torturing SHOCKWAVE on the social networking sites and he does not want his partner to be harassed by the bumbling Frenchmen.

NOBODY knows more about World Champions than legendary manager of the Four Horsemen, James J. Dillon! After all, it was Dillon who led the Horsemen and NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION “Nature Boy” Ric Flair at the height of their success.
A little known fact is that Dillon is a close personal friend and mentor to current ECWA Mid-Atlantic Champion “Heart Killer” Chris Wylde, who gets his FIRST shot at the ECWA Heavyweight Championship against “Greek God” Papadon in Newark, Delaware on July 16th!
Here Dillon gives Wylde some sound advice, that the key is PREPARATION!
And that is exactly what Chris Wylde has been doing. With a 9-1 win-loss record in the ECWA, Wylde has increased his gym workouts and cardio training while facing the toughest competition on the scene recently, including two huge wins over Ricky Reyes (Super 8 competitor, 2004) in ACW and Sonjay Dutt (Super 8 competitor & finalist, 2007) in DCW. Wylde will also be participating via invitation in the TNA Gut-Check this Saturday in Asbury Park, New Jersey!

On November 19, 2011, at the Boys & Girls Club in Newark, Delaware, Tri-State Wrestling Entertainment, LLC, presents the EAST COAST WRESTLING ASSOCIATION (ECWA) TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT!
The Nov. 19 tournament, like the Super 8 Tournament, will feature 8 entrants/teams and be a one-night single elimination event.
On June 6, 2010, Tri-State Wrestling Entertainment, LLC presented a tag team tournament for the Tri-State Wrestling Alliance (TWA) Tag Team Titles that was won by the Best Around, TJ Canon and Bruce Maxwell.
For coverage of that event, please visit:
“I have always been a huge fan of tag team wrestling, especially 80’s tag teams like the British Bulldogs, the Hart Foundation, the Midnight Express and the Road Warriors to name a few,” said Joe Zanolle of ECWA management. “I also love tournaments, namely the Jim Crockett Cup tournaments in the 1980’s and of course the SUPER 8. In today’s wrestling, it seems that tag team wrestling is always an afterthought, at least in the WWE, but there are tons of great tag teams on the independent scene that are keeping the art of tag team wrestling alive and that is what we want to celebrate on Nov 19th!”
The TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT will now be an annual event like the Super 8 Tournament.
The 8 teams competing in the Nov 19th tournament will be announced in the weeks and months ahead.

“Complex” Chris Rockwell & “Sharp” Sam Shields, collectively known as “The Midnight Sensations,” are one interesting, and talented duo. Many have compared their styles, personas & look to some great tag teams of the past, such as “New Breed” Sean Royal & Chris Champion, “The Midnight Express” Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane and “The Rockers” Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty.
While dressed in some odd apparel and talk of being from the Triton moon, the Sensations have raised some eyebrows. And even here, in this recent video, the Sensations have some fun at the expense of the Unified ECWA/TWA Tag Team Champions, “FUSION DS” Matt Saigon & Damian Dragon. But make no mistake about it; the Sensations are one talented, effective and dangerous tag team, capable of beating the best the sport has to offer. FUSION DS can attest to that, as they had one classic, back and forth battle with the Sensations at the ECWA, May 7th in Newark, Delaware to unify the vacant ECWA Tag Titles with the TWA Tag Titles that FUSION DS came into the bout with.
BE THERE July 16th for the rematch, as FUSION DS collides with the Midnight Sensations one more time for the Unified Tag Titles. For tix and info call 609.220.5598 or email email@example.com
