Former WWE CWC competitor announced as next entrant in 2017 ECWA Super 8
ECWA has been around for almost 50 years now… half a century of top notch wrestling put on by some of the world’s best wrestlers. A company that lasts that long has to keep innovating for the future… and innovate it did back in 1997 when former ECWA owner Jim Kettner invented the Super 8 Tournament. Originally, it was to crown an ECWA TV Championship, a now defunct championship. But the buzz behind the performers’ showing created massive buzz in the indy circuit, especially picking up PWI Magazine’s interest and coverage. And so it grew into a phenomenon! Wrestlers from all across the country begged and fought for the chance to be among the chosen eight. A good showing, and more importantly a win, in the tournament almost guarantees national coverage. Most of the past competitors went on to HUGE things in the wrestling industry whether it was in WWE, WCW, ROH, or even Japan.

And that’s literally just barely a list of the amazing names that all wrestling fans know and love that have competed under the ECWA banner at the Super 8 Tournament. These men weren’t household names when they competed… just young, hungry wrestlers looking for a chance. You know these men AFTER the fact… that’s the story of the Super 8.
With that in mind, this is year 21 of the famous single elimination tournament! ECWA management wanted to make a huge splash with fresh, young talent competing for all the glory. The search didn’t go very far before they found exactly the kind of athletes and wrestlers that embodies what the Super 8 stands for.
With 6 men already chosen, ECWA management took a look around the Northeast indy scene for a wrestler waiting for his chance to break out… to finally show what he’s worth and be the next big star on the list above.
The next entrant is an interesting one…. A quirky, flamboyant young wrestler who loves his hair, pro wrestling, and working out… in that exact order! This smiling high flyer is one to watch on the indy scene… and now he gets his chance!
THE SEVENTH ENTRANT IN THE 2017 ECWA SUPER 8 TOURNAMENT IS ‘THE HIGHTOP FADING, HIP HOP PARADING” ANTHONY BENNETT!
Bennett is one of the more interesting entrants in this year’s field of 8. Training out of the legendary Monster Factory in 2013, men like ‘Pretty Boy’ Larry Sharpe, Danny Cage, and ECW Originals Bilvis Wesley and The Blue Meanie have shaped Bennett into a technically sound wrestler who loves to take to the air for huge impact maneuvers. Of course, he also has a tendency to show off quite a bit making him a fun competitor to watch in and out of the ring. He even comes to the ring with light up glasses for his eyes and hair! With silky chain wrestling skills that are as beautiful to behold as his leaps off the top rope it’s easy to see why he’s quickly rising up the ranks of the US’s top cruiserweight stars.
In fact, many wrestling fans will remember him from his appearance in WWE’s Cruiserweight Classic tournament, which sported 32 of the world’s biggest up and coming high flying wrestlers. He made quite an impression wrestling against current WWE Raw star and former Super 8 competitor Tony Nese. Now he’s looking to breakout and wrestle all over the country, not just for his home at the Monster Factory. ECWA management recognized his obvious talent and immediately chose as entrant number 7.
Now he’ll get the chance to showcase his charisma and speed as he takes flight in the ECWA Super 8 Tournament! He could win this tournament and show why he should have won the CWC!
Anthony Bennett is out for all the glory and will gladly dance his way into the hearts of wrestling fans everywhere!
