ECWA Super 8 Results & Recap

2015 ECWA Super 8 Tournament- Quick Results/Recap

The 2015 ECWA Super 8 Tournament is in the books! It was a night of hard hitting and fast paced action that is already being talked about as the best event of 2015! Who knew year 19 of this prestigious tournament could have very well been the best? Here’s a quick recap/results rundown of the night’s action:

Quarter Finals

Jason Kincaid defeats Kai Katana– It what many expected to a high flying affair, the match was all over the ring! Huge impact moves by both men including a thunderous, HIGH ARCING moonsault from Katana that unfortunately missed it’s target leading to Kincaid picking up the victory.

Corey Hollis defeats BJ Hancock– These two men knew each other very well from battles in the Carolinas. Hancock utilized his old school ground and proud tactics to injure and weaken Hollis. But Hollis wouldn’t die so easily eventually hitting what some called Sliced Bread #3 to pick up a surprise win.

Jaxson James defeats Breaker Morant– Power vs. Power. Veteran vs. Rookie. We saw it all in this one. James showing his amazing power and Morant showing why he’s considered a ring general. Morant almost pulled this one out as the overwhelming fan favorite. But James power and youth won out in the end.

Sean Carr defeats Napalm Bomb– Many considered this match of the night. Carr’s speed and innovative offense did nicely against the amazing display of power put forth by the Bomb. Napalm would close in on victory but miss his trademark Swanton Bomb only for Carr to score the pinfall using the very same move!

Matt Saigon defeats Bobby Shields & Ricky Martinez to become the NEW ECWA Heavyweight Champion– This elimination match spilled all over the arena as the will to win “Big Red” filled the air. Shields would use his power and ring smarts to surprise the other men with many near falls. Martinez, the defending champ, would get eliminated early as he let himself get too cocky. Shields beat down Saigon for better part of the match… but the fans wouldn’t let Saigon falter… as Shields went for his 450 Splash finisher Saigon caught him with a HUGE jumping Ace Crusher for the win!

Renee Michelle defeats Tessa Blanchard to become the NEW ECWA Women’s Champion– The bad blood between this two women was apparent right from the start. Throwing each other threw everything they could find ringside made for quite the show. Blanchard would dominate the match early with her array of technical wrestling… but Michelle pounced and scored the pinfall with a surprise neck breaker into a moonsault for the win.

Semi Finals

Corey Hollis defeats Sean Carr– Back and forth… quite frankly sums up this match. Carr showing his cocky attitude went right after the injured knee of Hollis using submission holds to gain the advantage. Hollis refused to tap or stay down for 3. Carr impressed with a dazzling display of speed and technical wrestling. Once again defying all odds, Hollis would comeback at the end hitting “Sliced Bread #3” to advance to the Finals.

Jason Kincaid defeats Jaxson James– Jaxson James went right to work grounding the much faster Kincaid. Using various slams and suplexes it seemed to be working. But as with much of his career, give Kincaid an inch he takes a mile. Kincaid would hit two of the most amazing moves in Super 8 history: a turnbuckle-to-turnbuckle dropkick and a top rope-bounce back-to-top rope arm drag that amazing all in attendance. Kincaid would score the win catching James off guard with his unorthodox offense.

Extreme Rednecks, Phil Sly, & JD Browning defeat Kid USA, Sam Shields, & Mr. Oui

In what could be described as a cluster of clashing personalities, the Rednecks and Browning dominated Kid USA early keeping him isolated from his teammates. But USA would tag in Shields who would quickly clean house with a t-bone suplex to Browning and Kyle Payne of the Rednecks. But the numbers game was too much. After much back and forth between all the men involved, it wasn’t apparent who was the legal man for either team. Mr. Oui would be the first to reenter the ring… but unfortunately for him next were the Extreme Rednecks who promptly dropped him with their leg sweep-heel kick finisher. In comes Phil Sly who hid for most of the match to score the pinfall.

Finals

Jason Kincaid defeats Corey Hollis to become the 2015 Super 8 Champion– Kincaid vs. Hollis was a test of strength and courage by both men. Hollis with a never say die attitude quickly went after the surprised Kincaid. Speed for speed, innovative offense vs. innovative offense. They were evenly matched. Kincaid’s hidden brutality would come into focus attacking the still injured knee of Hollis. But Corey Hollis would shock Kincaid with a beautiful display of suplexes and submission holds that many times looked to win him the match. But no! Kincaid was just too powerful on this night landing a spinning Falcon Arrow for the victory.

ECWA Super 8 March 21 3 More participants reviewed

First Look: ECWA Super 8 participants

The ECWA is proudly presenting the 19 Annual Super 8 Tournament on Saturday March 21, 2015. The Super 8 has long been a tournament rich in tradition that’s allowed many men and now women to showcase their abilities to a wide audience. To say it’s etched in independent wrestling history is an understatement. Most of today’s wrestlers read about, went to, and dreamed about the Super 8 growing up… and they all want the honor to chase down that elusive golden trophy.

The names who’ve competed read like a who’s who of today’s wrestling superstars… names like Daniel Bryan, Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, both Hardy brothers, and Christopher Daniels. And that’s just to name a few.

This year’s field of 8 hopes to one day be considered in the same esteem as those names just mentioned. This tournament is about young up and comers getting their chance to showcase their talents…. It’s about veterans getting that last chance at glory… it’s all those things but who will be the next break out star? Who will the fans be able to say “I saw him before…?” Who will dominate the competition?

This offers a first look at this year’s field of 8 participants. Here’s a brief look at Kai Katana, Breaker Morant, and Sean Carr.

Kai Katana

This is the biggest question mark in this year’s tournament…. Kai Katana is as mysterious as he is deadly. Coming onto the independent scene in 2012, he attacked opponents in companies like Victory Pro Wrestling, Jersey Championship Wrestling, and MCW with a lethal combination of aerial and martial arts maneuvers. ECWA fans will remember he briefly teamed with Bolo Yung and Matt Saigon as the Asian Nation a few years ago. What’s not certain is his motivations in the Super 8… is he here to win the trophy to prove his dominance or is he out for something more sinister? Certainly something the other seven men will be thinking as they look across at the stoic warrior. Kai Katana is a big wildcard in the tournament and someone who could easily walk out with the title Super 8 champion.

“The Hybrid” Sean Carr

The egomaniac Sean Carr debuted in 2009 after training under Horace White. Carr gained notoriety early in promotions like ECPW, Squared Circle Wrestling, and World Extreme Wrestling among others with his unique blend of technical wrestling and speed: a fact that gives him the moniker “The Hybrid”. Apart of the successful team Team CK, Carr has gained a reputation as a loud mouth… but one who can back up all the talk. In fact, ECWA fans will remember Team CK’s run as tag team champions in which they were routinely the most hated men on the roster. Being quite possibly the most overlooked man in the tournament hasn’t been lost to him. Carr is looking to outsmart and out wrestle everyone else on his quest to hoisting the Super 8 trophy and establishing himself as a top tier singles wrestler. Can Sean Carr take advantage of opponents looking past him? Or will his mouth once again get him in trouble and be his Achilles heel? One thing’s for certain… Carr thinks he’s better than everyone else and he isn’t afraid to tell you all about it.

Breaker Morant

Breaker Morant enters this year’s tournament as the longest tenured veteran of the squared circle and easily the most popular among the fans. Beginning his career in 2002, Morant’s old school brawler style wrestling lends itself to his trainers Heidi Lee and Les Morgan…. who also trained ECWA HOF’er Meisure Ooh La La. Morant broke onto the scene working for places like Heritage Wrestling Alliance and Force One before catching onto current ECWA owner Mike Tartaglia’s former company TWA in 2009. Since then, the Philadelphia native has been hated and he’s been loved. In ECWA in particular, Morant led the evil Black Heart faction threatening to overthrow the company… but with an attitude adjustment he’s quite the fan favorite nowadays. He’s entered the tournament with the most to prove. Can he steal the spotlight from all the young upstarts in the tournament? Or will he crash and burn like the Black Hearts? Either way, Breaker Morant is out to show the fans he can go with the best.

That’s your first look at this year’s crop of amazing wrestling talent. Still to come are looks at the 2 SPECIAL ECWA Championship matches and a HUGE 8 man Tag Team match just added!

say “I saw him before…?” Who will dominate the competition?

This offers a first look at this
year’s field of 8 participants. Here’s a brief look at Corey Hollis and Napalm
Bomb.

“The
Original” Corey Hollis

The high
flying Corey Hollis began his career running in 2009. Training under Will
Owens, he immediately took professional wrestling by storm wrestling all over
the country for companies like the NWA, Anarchy Wrestling, and even has had
numerous stints in Ring of Honor. Hollis is known as the good ole country boy
with a nasty attitude who isn’t scared to mix in a moonsault with his mat
wrestling. A noted tag team specialist, Hollis is out to prove himself as a
deadly singles competitor in this year’s tournament. And who can argue with
someone who while isn’t the best known of the tournament, might just be the
most overlooked man. Can he shock the competition with his trademark speed and
high octane offense? Or will he crash and burn when the spotlight is brightest?
One thing’s for certain, Corey Hollis is out to prove something and certainly
won’t be an easy out in the quest for the Super 8 trophy.

Napalm Bomb

Trained by
John Rambo and making his debut in 2007, Napalm Bomb is someone the ECWA fans
are very familiar with. His impressive array of power AND speed makes him quite
possibly the most dangerous man in the tournament. Napalm’s nasty attitude has
grown from his involvement in groups like Black Wall$treet and the Legion of
Destruction. Wrestling mostly for ECWA, MCW, and World Extreme Wrestling, the
Bomb is a very overlooked talent capable of going toe to toe with just about
anyone in the ring. In the ECWA, he’s physically dominated almost every man
he’s stepped into the ring with… but having ability often times leads to
cockiness and ego… and its cost him in the past. Can Napalm Bomb focus and make
quick work of the much smaller men in this tournament? Or will he once again
take his dominance for granted? Either way, Napalm Bomb will shock and awe the
audience in attendance with his powerful offense. The Bomb is definitely one to
watch as the tournament grows closer.

That’s

First look at ECWA Super 8 Participants March 21 in Woodbury Heights, NJ

First Look: ECWA Super 8 participants

The ECWA is proudly presenting the 19Annual Super 8 Tournament on Saturday March 21, 2015.

Here’s a brief look at BJ Hancock, Jaxson James, and Jason Kincaid.

“The Modern Classic” BJ Hancock

Hancock debuted in pro wrestling in 2005 after training under Abel Atoms. Quickly making a name for himself in the Carolinas in promotions like Anarchy Wrestling, Premiere Wrestling Experience, and Alternative Pro Wrestling, BJ racked up respect and numerous championship title wins. Fancying himself as a legend in the art of “Old School” wrestling, his ego has often times took billing over his impressive technical wrestling ability. Sometimes the biggest mouth in the room can also have the biggest bark… and Hancock is as crafty a veteran as there is. Where else does a man calling himself “The Modern Classic” make a statement? At the ECWA Super 8 Tournament of course. BJ Hancock is a formidable competitor looking to make the wrestling world take notice of what he can do in the ring.

“The Thorough Bred” Jaxson James

Jaxson James might be the least experienced participant in the tournament this year. But don’t take that for granted. His toughness and brutality is unmatched perhaps not by anyone ever in the Super 8. A four year football player in college, he used his desire to get to the NFL to fuel his passion for pro wrestling. Trained by the legendary Dr. Tom Pritchard, he’s quickly established himself as a heavy hitter. Only two years in professional wrestling, he’s already climbed to huge heights. Having try out matches with WWE and traveling the Mid Atlantic, James is primed for a jump to the top tier of the business. With him already on the radar of the WWE, especially after taking part in WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin’s TV show Broken Skull Challenge; can “The Thorough Bred” destroy the competition much like he did on the football field? Or will his inexperience do him in? Time will tell but he’s quietly a dark horse in this tournament.

Jason “The Gift” Kincaid

Kincaid started his in ring career training under the Batten twins in 2003. Working in promotions across PA, NC, TN, and WV he grew a reputation for trying all sorts of creative offensive maneuvers. But it wasn’t unto 2007 that the legend of Jason Kincaid grew. He would go on to debut for the NWA Smoky Mountain promotion in Tennessee. Starting a modern day UNPRECEDENTED run as the Smoky Mountain Heavyweight Champion, he would go on to hold the title for well over 1,000 days! That’s unbelievable in a world of constant change like the pro wrestling business. Kincaid is by far the most accomplished man in the tournament having already traveled the US and Mexico perfecting his craft. One piece of gold hardware he hasn’t won yet is the ECWA Super 8 and he’s hungry to add it to his long list of accomplishments. Can the unorthodox Kincaid once again start a reign of unmatched skill? Or can the other competitors overcome his high risk-high reward wrestling style? He’s easily the defacto favorite to take it home.

That’s your first look at this year’s crop of amazing wrestling talent. Still to come are looks at the remaining 5 participants and the 2 SPECIAL ECWA Championship matches that will take place at the Super 8 Tournament show!
