ECWA Saturday January 4, 2014 Fans Participation Lumberjack Match

ECWA Tradition lives on!

ECWA has long been the innovator of new and exciting things on the independent wrestling scene… the Super 8 Tournament comes to mind as one of these innovations. But ECWA almost 3 years ago sought to start a new yearly tradition with the fans being far more involved… and so a FANS PARTICIPATION match was invented as a way to get the fans to be apart of the show! It wasn’t just any participation either. The annual ECWA tradition of a Fans Participation Match turned out to be a time honored classic I wrestling… a LUMBERJACK match.

That’s right here at ECWA we do a FANS PARTICIPATION LUMBERJACK MATCH where the FANS are the lumberjacks for the match. It’s spawned great moments like ECWA owner Mike Tartaglia wearing a Hazmat suit so the fans couldn’t touch him. So this year has a little spice thrown in.

The match will be for the ECWA Women’s Championship… feisty champion Jessie Kaye is defending against the sexy and deadly Renee Michelle. There is certainly no love lost between these two vixens. Kaye has battled Michelle numerous times over the last few months. They first had problems a few months ago when Kaye teamed with friend Chris Wylde against Renee Michelle and her boyfriend, then ECWA Mid Atlantic champ Ricky Martinez. Both women were looking to one up each other and battled the men in the match. Jessie and Chris Wylde would walk out with victory. Furious Michelle demanded a chance at the Women’s Championship… and last month at ‘Toys for Tots II’ she got her chance.

They battled back and forth with neither gaining much advantage over the other. It was so close that both women fought all over the arena floor eventually fighting back to the locker room and both being counted out.

Not liking double count out endings for title matches, ECWA booker Joe Zanolle has decided to make sure that can never happen again. So he sat back and thought of a good way…. Have the fans themselves make sure the action stays in the ring and no funny business happens.

So on Saturday January 4, 2014 at the Greater Newark Boys & Girls Club in Newark, Delaware, ECWA presents ‘New Years Resolutions III’. And the yearly tradition WILL RETURN!

For the ECWA Women’s Championship it’s Jessie Kaye (c ) vs. Renee Michelle in a Fans Participation Lumberjack Match! The fans will be apart of the show! FANS are the lumberjacks!

Here’s how it works:
* You have to be 18 years of age or older

* You have to buy a ticket to the show

* Once at the show, there’ll be a ballot box of some sort. You write your name on a piece of paper provided and put it in the box.

*ONLY ONE ENTRY PER FAN

*Names will be drawn at random(usually 10-15 lumberjacks will be chosen)

*Once picked, instructions will be given to the lumberjacks by a member of ECWA management.

See it’s that simple! All you got to do is by a ticket to the show and enter in the drawing and YOU can be a LUMBERJACK and be IN THE SHOW!

ECWA Interview with WWE Hall of Famer JJ Dillon

10 Questions with…”

Special Edition

Four Horsemen Forever

WWE Hall of Famer JJ Dillon

4 pack of questions

Last month we debuted with this new feature for the ECWA website called “10 Questions with…”. The aim of this fun article is to have the fans learn more about their favorite ECWA stars and special guests. It was a rousing success! Fans loved the insight into the beloved ECWA Hall of Famer and icon Meisure Ooh La La’s career and personal life. And so when ECWA tore through the Greater Newark Boys & Girls Club on Saturday December 7, 2013 for ’Toys for Tots II’ we had just the man to be our first Special Edition. The Special Edition is reserved for extra special guests that the ECWA brings in to have some fun with the fans. The man I mentioned before? He’s someone who is etched in professional wrestling history… he’s helped some of the best wrestlers ever to reach the top of the wrestling world such as Abdullah the Butcher and most notably masterminded the legendary Four Horsemen stable! That’s right our special guest this month is WWE Hall of Famer JJ Dillon!

Dillon has had a long career wrestling and managing since the 70’s! He guided Ric Flair, Arn and Ole Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and more to numerous title runs in the NWA. He ventured into the ECWA on December 7, 2013 in support of his longtime friend and new ECWA Mid Atlantic champion Chris Wylde. Right before he led Wylde to the promised land just he did for so many before him, we sat down with JJ Dillon and asked him a Special Four Horsemen Forever 4 pack of questions. Read on:

Question 1: When did you know you wanted to be apart of the wrestling business?

JJ Dillon: I started as a fan. I was born and raised in Trenton, NJ. As a young teenager I discovered wrestling on… I’m giving my age away (laughs)… on a black and white television. It was on one night a week for an hour and a half. And eventually a live event came to my hometown to the armory in Trenton. And when I went to the show and saw all these larger than life characters in action I was hooked. At that point, I said “this is my dream and I’m gonna pursue it.”

Question 2: How did the formation of the Four Horsemen come about?

JJ Dillon: Actually the formation of the Four Horsemen was a spontaneous thing. It came along rather late in my career. I started as a full time wrestler in 1971. The Horsemen came together somewhere around 1985. And I was in Charlotte, NC where I actually started my career all those years ago. So I’d come full circle. We were doing the programming on TBS every Saturday for 2 hours. Ric Flair was the heavyweight champion, Tully Blanchard was the United States champion, and Ole and Arn were the world tag team champions. And I actually just managed Tully at the time. And because there was 2 hours of programming to fill, somebody said “Why don’t you go out after the break. You got all the gold. You have all the bragging rights. So go out there and tell the fans where you’ll be appearing the upcoming week.” So that’s what happened. The mic was passed around and when it came to Arn he said “Why don’t you people take a long, close look at your screen because never has so few reeked so much havoc on all the rest. You’d have to go back in history to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.” Then he held up four fingers. And it was just a passing comment. And then every time one of us went out after that we started hearing “Four Horsemen! Four Horsemen!” and the fans were holding up four fingers. It was a couple weeks before Jim Crockett jr. kept hearing it and he asked me “What is this Four Horsemen thing?” and I told him “It’s something the fans picked up on and it’s something you better pay attention too.” At that point, never in our wildest imaginations did we dream on how big it would become and how long it would have lasted.

Question 3: The Four Horsemen were legendary for their partying ways. Can you share a road story from the Horsemen days?

JJ Dillon: Oh boy…. Most of ‘em I can’t tell (laughs). Eh… I got one Ric Flair story I guess I can tell. Flair got booked in the Netherland Antilles, St Martin. And I went down with him. And I took a young lady friend of mine with me. St Martin is divided in two. Half Dutch, half French. And on the north side of the island on the French side is a nude beach. So Flair and I we’re there and we thought “We should take in all the sights.” So the three of us went up to the nude beach. It was kinda shaped like a horseshoe. You pull up on one side and walk about a mile along this beach through the naked bodies until you end up basically where you started from. So as we’re walking along , the young lady who was with me… who later would become my third wife… She swam out. She took her top off and she’s swinging it around so I say to Ric, “Ya know we’re here. Don’t cha think we outta, ya know get with it?” and he says “I’ll do it if you will.” I said “Ok!” and then he says “You go first.” So I strip down and put all my clothes on the beach and dove into the water out to where my girl was. I got out there and we’re frolicking in the water. And I finally turn around just in time to see Ric Flair picking up my pile of clothes, putting them under one arm and waving goodbye to me as he walked on down the beach. And of course I had to walk naked for a mile down this beach (laughs) in St Martin until I got back to the parking lot. There was my clothes, wallet, and keys by our car. Typical Ric Flair.

Question 4: Managers in wrestling have become a dying breed. Discuss.

JJ Dillon: Well what’s happened is not so much what the manager is or does has changed. It’s the landscape that’s changed so dramatically. Back in the day, you had more diversity in the characters. And some of them were very bizarre. Bizarre to the point they were more effective… and I’ll use Abdullah the Butcher as an example… he was more effective, this monster of a man if he never opened his mouth. So the manager served that purpose to be the catalyst to tell the story and to help get the fans excited about seeing whatever the match was. But as the business changed and those diverse characters no longer existed, the role of the manager went by the wayside ‘cause there was no need for it. Just when everyone thought managers were dead, never to be seen again along came a guy named Brock Lesnar who is more effective as a visual picture and not opening his mouth. And along came Paul Heyman, who was and is one of the best managers of all time in wrestling and a great mind and guy, who all of a sudden revived the role of the manager because finally the scenario warranted it.

We thank JJ Dillon for taking the time to speak with us here at the ECWA website. You can read this article, past “10 Questions with…” articles, and ALL information about upcoming ECWA events at ecwaprowrestling.com!

ECWA Toys for Tots December 7 Results & News on January 4 Event

ECWA Toys for Tots 12/7/13 Recap & Results

            ECWA tore through
the Greater Newark Boys & Girls on Saturday December 7, 2013. In front of a
loud capacity crowd the stars of the ECWA provided laughs and some breath
taking ‘Oh My God!’ moments! WWE Hall of Famer JJ Dillon was on hand and a very
popular man as the fans flocked to meet the wrestling legend. All this was in
support of the US Marines and their Toys for Tots toy drive which was a rousing
success! So what did you miss? Read the recap and results below to find out:

The Asian Nation(Kai
Katana & Bolo Yung) defeat Kid USA & Meisure Ooh La La w/Coach Jim
Shorts via the frog splash-
The
mysterious warriors were seeking revenge on the fun loving duo of Kid USA and
Meisure Ooh La La after Katana was embarrassed last month. They sure got it
here. They mostly dominated the contest with the pin fall after a fall away
slam/frog splash combo by Yung and Katana.

Muddy Waters vs. Mark ‘The
Dragonfly’ Harro vs. Delaware Dynamo ends in a No Contest as Ricky Martinez
attacked all 3 men with a cowbell-
All
3 men were newcomers to the ECWA and they didn’t disappoint. We saw amazing
chain wrestling , big slams, and fast paced action that only ended because ECWA
Mid Atlantic champion Ricky ‘The Model’ Martinez attacked all 3 men with a
cowbell. He would then imitate wrestling legend Dusty Rhodes saying he was
going to destroy Chris Wylde later on in the evening.

*‘The Boss’ Mike Tartaglia
would call out Santa Claus for a special match. But a poorly dressed St. Nick
would make his way to the ring to only be defeated by Tartaglia in a few
seconds. Saying he was stealing Christmas away from the ECWA fans, he went to
leave. But another Santa entered the arena! After back tracking what he said he
went to hit the holiday icon only to be repealed. Off came the beard and hat
for it to be revealed as ECWA Women’s champion Jessie Kaye! As the fans and
Kaye celebrated Renee Michelle would assault Kaye from behind with the Women’s
title.

Bobby Shields defeats Matt
Saigon via a backslide to even the Best of 5 Golden Opportunity Series at 2-2-
 In what may
have been the fans most anticipated match, these men put on a wrestling clinic
from bell to bell. Knowing each other so well, both men had counter after
counter for the other’s moves until Shields finally outsmarted Saigon to even
the series at 2 wins a piece.

Kekoa the Flyin’ Hawaiian
defeats ‘Monster’ Ahtu w/Phil Sly via the Hawaiian Fly to retain the ECWA
heavyweight championship-
Many fans
were shocked to see this match happening so quickly, but these two men were
chomping at the bit to fight. As expected Ahtu dominated early with his power
and brutality. Kekoa would eventually gain the upper hand with his speed and
superior technical wrestling. Kekoa would retain his ECWA title with a
thunderous Hawaiian Fly(formerly known as the Spanish Fly).

Jessie Kaye vs. Renee
Michelle for the ECWA Women’s championship ends in a Double Count Out-
No love lost here. The battling vixens would put on
one heck of a display of old school and mat wrestling. Neither would gain the
upper hand for very long. Kaye would hit an electric chair when Michelle went
to taunt her and it looked to be enough but Michelle would battle back somehow.
It ended as both women battled back to the locker room with being counted out.

*WWE Hall of Famer J.J.
Dillon addressed the crowd about his career, ECWA, ECWA being the place where
the stars of the future are and thanked the fans for their support during his
career.

D-line(Body snatcher &
Black Ice) defeats LOD(Napalm Bomb & Solo) and Breaker Morant &
Apollyon via a Double Spear to retain the ECWA Tag Team championships
– What a brawl! All these men respect each other but
have a mutual goal… the ECWA tag team titles. And they went all out! Huge
displays of power by the tag champs and LOD and veteran poise by Morant and
Apollyon delighted the ECWA faithful for well over 15 minutes. Napalm Bomb
would steal the show with one of his off the top rope dives. The LOD would look
to win it all by keeping Morant and Apollyon down by the resourceful tag team
champions keep focuses and waited for their chance hitting a double spear or
the victory.

*After the match, the
Asian Nation would run into the arena and begin assaulting Apollyon as his
partner Breaker Morant was still down outside the ring. Yung would bring in a
chair that they would use to batter the ribs of the fallen monster. The assault
only ended when Katana would climb to the top rope hitting a frog splash onto
Apollyon as the chair was laid across his chest. Apollyon would have to be
carried out.

‘Heartkiller’ Chris Wylde
w/ WWE Hall of Famer JJ Dillon defeats Ricky ‘The Model’ Martinez w/ Renee
Michelle to become the NEW ECWA Mid Atlantic champion-
The final chapter… the final battle if you will. Both
men left nothing on the table. They went full throttle the whole match.
Martinez would show his new mean streak big time as there was no show boating
here. Wylde willed himself to victory with encouragement from Dillon and a
little 4 Horsemen magic. Dillon would get into the face of Martinez near the
end of the match sneakily throwing Wylde the cowbell which resulted in a near
fall. Dillon would also pull the ole switcheroo. Martinez and Wylde had just
super kicked each other in the face. As both lay out, Dillon tried to complain
to the ref when Michelle would try to lay Martinez on top of Wylde…. But Dillon
had other plans. Dillon would flip Wylde back over on top of Martinez.. But to
no avail. Renee Michelle must have been studying her manager counterpart as she
pulled the Horsemen foot hold out of her bag of nasty tricks. She held Wylde’s
foot on a Superplex attempt making the champ land on top of Wylde for a pin
fall attempt. The end would finally come after a HUGE back and forth battle as
Wylde hit the Swanton Bomb.

Saturday January 4, 2013
at the Greater Newark Boys & Girls Club in Newark, Delaware ECWA presents….
NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS III!!!!!!!

ALREADY ANNOUNCED:

After his partner was
attacked and injured, Breaker Morant is out for revenge as he has

Yung

Ricky ‘The Model’ Martinez
declared himself the longest reigning

days.. The ‘Greek God’ Papadon!

Ricky ‘The Model’
Martinez vs. ‘Greek God’ Papadon

Bobby Shields and Matt Saigon’s Best of 5 Golden Opportunity
Series has been evened at 2 wins a piece! It’s certainly been some of the best
ECWA has ever seen. And to make the final battle special for the fans and both
men ECWA management has made this match a LADDER MATCH!

Ladder match for the
Golden Opportunity(a chance at any title anytime)

Matt Saigon(2) vs.
Bobby Shields(2)

ECWA Women’s Champion
Jessie Kaye
and her bad blood with
the hellcat Renee Michelle is far from over. Their fight at ‘Toys for
Tots II’ would end with a double count out. ECWA booker Joe Zanolle would voice
his displeasure with this. And to make sure it doesn’t happen again he has made
a return match… but with a twist. It’s the annual

Fans as the Lumberjacks
Participation Match!

ECWA Women’s
Championship LUMBERJACK Match- Jessie Kaye( c) vs. Renee Michelle

FANS ARE THE
LUMBERJACKS!

Talking about his victory
over Legion of Destruction member Ahtu in a backstage interview following his
victory Kekoa the Flyin’ Hawaiian certainly rubbed Ahtu’s LOD teammates
the wrong way… stepping up to the plate is LOD member Napalm Bomb! The
Bomb wants to shut up the champ for good by matching speed for speed… this very
well could be the most evenly matched ECWA title match in history!

Kekoa the Flyin’
Hawaiian ( c) vs. Legion of Destruction member Napalm Bomb w/ Joel Blackhart and
Referee Phil Sly

Meet WWE Hall of Famer JJ Dillon this Saturday, Dec 7 – Free Autographs/Pics

WWE Hall of Famer and Pro Wrestling Legend JJ Dillon will appear at ECWA

On Saturday December 7, 2013 at the Greater Newark Boys & Girls Club, ECWA is hosting ‘Toys for Tots II’. It’s a charity show filled with a fun night of family friendly professional wrestling that’s all centered around one thing: Helping needy children in the area.

And boy does ECWA have a treat for the fans…

Pro wrestling royalty will be with us to help celebrate this amazing night!

We will have none other than the legendary WWE Hall of Famer JJ Dillon!

Dillon of course was the strategist or the evil genius(depending on how you look at it) behind the most powerful stable in pro wrestling history… the Four Horsemen! Dillon’s long storied career began back in the 1960’s-70’s as he traveled all over the country and world wrestling and managing. Along the way he brushed with some of the best ever in the business from ‘Outlaw’ Ron Bass to Dick Murdoch. He wrestled in places like Nova Scotia, Germany, and Japan. He even got to wrestle in the mecha of pro wrestling… Madison Square Garden. However, perhaps what he’s known best for didn’t happen until 1985 with the NWA. He would form the Four Horsemen with Ric Flair, The Anderson brothers(Ole and Arn), and Tully Blanchard. They were the epitome of class and toughness. When they said something, people listened. For years, Dillon would orchestrate title run after title run, singles and tag team, for all 4 men as they ran rough shot over the territory. Later he would work as an in-house agent for WWE, WCW, and even had a few appearances with a young TNA promotion. He officially retired from the business in 2003. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame along with his Four Horsemen brothers in 2012.

ECWA is providing a ONE TIME ONLY, UNIQUE experience that only we can provide. At our ‘Toys for Tots II’ event we have JJ Dillon doing two very different appearances.

The first: Saturday December 7, 2013 the doors open at 6pm. Dillon will be available all the way until show time at 7pm posing for pictures and signing autographs for any and all fans who want them. Pictures and autographs will be FREE! He will also have merchandise available for purchase.

The second: JJ Dillon is making a ONE TIME ONLY appearance for the last time as a MANAGER! He is close friends with ECWA’s very own ‘Heartkiller’ Chris Wylde. Wylde has quite the interesting dilemma. He has a Title vs. Career match against ECWA Mid Atlantic Champion Ricky ‘The Model’ Martinez scheduled on the night’s already stacked card. If Chris Wylde should lose this match, he will have to leave the ECWA forever! So he isn’t taking any chances… he dialed up somebody who he not only trusts but someone who knows a little something about winning gold! Dillon WILL BE MANAGING Wylde as he looks to keep a very close eye on the antics of one Ricky Martinez and his girlfriend Renee Michelle. If push comes to shove you can bet Dillon has one last dose of that old Four Horsemen magic left.

YOU HAVE READ THAT CORRECTLY! WWE Hall of Famer JJ Dillon is appearing at ECWA ‘Toys for Tots II’ on Saturday December 7, 2013 at the Greater Newark Boys & Girls Club in Newark, Delaware! Pictures and autographs with him are FREE! And Dillon will be making his LAST EVER APPEARANCE AS A MANAGER to help his friend ‘Heartkiller’ Chris Wylde fight for the ECWA Mid Atlantic championship in a HUGE TITLE VS. CAREER MAIN EVENT!

Why would you miss out on this exciting, unique opportunity? That’s right you shouldn’t! Get your tickets now by calling 609-220-5598 or by going to ecwaprowresting.com! ‘ECWA… become a fan all over again!’
