"Handicapped Hero" Gregory Iron has been entered into the 16th Annual ECWA SUPER 8!!!

Gregory Iron was the first runner up for the 2011 Inspirational Wrestler of the Year in PWI Magazine (March 2012 Issue)

Greg’s Story…

Born with cerebral palsy, Iron had a rough childhood as he was often ridiculed for it by peers and classmates.  Iron did share a close bond though with his grandmother, who first got him interested in pro wrestling and developed a common love of wrestling.  Sadly, Iron lost his grandmother to bone cancer in 1995.  Iron also had a tough home life as his mother became addicted to drugs and alcohol, which resulted in emotional and even financial woes and, ultimately, led to the passing of his mother from a drug overdose.

Despite all of these obstacles, the one thing that occupied Greg’s mind and motivated him was his love of pro wrestling.

Greg always wanted to be a part of wrestling, though he never thought he could actually be a wrestler.  That changed when he saw one legged wrestler Zach Gowen perform in 2003.  Greg  slowly began to get hope that maybe he too could live his lifelong dream.

In 2006, at 19, Greg began to make that dream a reality, and had his 1st match in July, 2006.   Greg has not looked back since, always trying to improve and better himself.

Greg wears handicapped symbols all over his gear, because not only is it a distinguishable symbol, but it’s a powerful symbol.  Greg says, “To most, the handicapped symbol represents weakness and shame, but I want to make people look at it and see strength, and inspiration… to know any dream is possible to attain, no matter who you are.”

WWE Champion CM Punk and Colt Cabana endorse Gregory Iron!!!(Warning!! Foul Language)

Since TWA Heavyweight Champion and the self-proclaimed REAL Champion Breaker Morant insists carrying around the TWA belt with him, ECWA has decided to officially recognized the championship! Ever since that announcement was made, the response from members of the roster looking for a shot has been overwhelming, and from both sides of the dressing rooms!!! AHTU has his first shot on Mar 10th, but Chris Wylde, Kekoa, Aden Chambers, Chris Rockwell, Sam Shields, Cole Callaway, Corey Blaze, Damian Dragon, Matt Saigon, Johnny Silver, Alex Reynolds, CUJO and even Mr. Ooh La La all want a piece of Breaker!!! Huh, go figure, Blackheart is not too popular in the locker room! Breaker is going to have to be every bit as good as he says he is to fend off this onslaught of challengers!!!

ADEN CHAMBERS RETURNS FROM INJURY, TAKES on PAPADON Mar 10th, 2012

For Aden Chambers, 5 months felt like 5 years! That is how long it took for him to rehab his fractured femur that he incurred during the MCW Shamrock Memorial Cup on July 30, 2011 in Dundalk, MD. At that time Chambers was scheduled to return to the ECWA 44th Anniversary show on September 24th in Newark, Delaware in a highly anticipated 4 corners match for the ECWA Mid-Atlantic Title vs. Chris Wyde (then champion) vs. Bobby Shields vs. Kekoa the Flyin Hawaiian (the current champion).

All Chambers could think about during his rehab was getting back into the ring, but more specifically the ECWA ring! And why not, Chambers has had a storied career in the ECWA. He has held every championship and also won the 2008 Super 8 Tournament.

When Chambers sent word that he was back and ready for action, ECWA Matchmaker Joe Zanolle was quick to sign a match that has NEVER taken place before… Aden Chambers vs. “Greek God” Papadon!!! Now Papadon has a defense of his ECWA heavyweight Championship on March 3, 2012 in Newark, Delaware against #1 Johnny Silver. IF Papadon successfully defends the championship, then his match with Chambers on March 10th at the YMCA of Salem County in Carney’s Point, NJ (just 10 minutes from the Boys & Girls Club in Newark, DE) will be for the title!

Aden Chambers won the ECWA Heavyweight Championship on March 17, 2007! Can lightening strike twice one week shy of 5 years later on Mar 10, 2012 in Carney’s Point, NJ??????

Don’t miss it as Aden Chambers will take on the current ECWA Heavyweight Champion GreekGod Papadon for the VERY FIRST TIME EVER and perhaps the ONLY TIME!!!!!!!!!!

Call 609.220.5598 for tix!!!

“ECWA … become a fan all over again!!!!”

Chambers suffered a compound fracture to the femur and a cracked hip bone when he landed on the concrete here at the MCW Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup, July 30, 2011 in Dundalk, MD!

Chambers vs. Ricky Reyes at the Shamrock Cup moments before his injury!

EXCLUSIVE PHOTO! Here is an X-Ray of Aden Chambers fractured femur!

EXCLUSIVE PHOTO! Here is the X-Ray of Aden Chamber's femur post surgery! You can clearly see the steel rod here!

Chambers went through months of tedious rehab!

Chambers is a member of an elite group in pro wrestling, ECWA SUPER 8 Tournament winners!

Chambers has never been shy about taking risks inside, and outside, the ring!

Chambers began his ECWA career in 2004 as the OC Boyz with Shawn Patrick and Ace Darling as their mentor!

Teacher vs. student, Chambers takes on Ace Darling at the 2011 ECWA Super 8 Tournament! Chambers and Ace are the only 2 men in ECWA history to have won every championship and the Super 8!

Chambers had his first match back on January 14th, 2012 vs. Dustin Tarr!

Chambers knows what it feels like to be the keeper of the oldest heavyweight championship in independent pro wrestling history and he wants that feeling back!

But standing in his way is the current champion Papadon who knows that feeling too and has no plans to let the championship slip from his grasp!

16th ANNUAL ECWA SUPER 8 IS COMING SAT, APRIL 7, 2012 to NEWARK, DELAWARE, FIRST 3 COMPETITORS ANNOUNCED

The East Coast Wrestling Association’s (ECWA) annual Super 8 Tournament is the oldest and most recognized pro wrestling tournament in the United States. The inaugural tournament took place in 1997 and gave many of today’s stars their first big break on the East Coast including Daniel Bryan (aka Bryan Danielson, American Dragon), Christopher Daniels, Austin Aries, the Hardy Boyz and many more. Each year, Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) magazine has recognized and covered the tournament in depth. Many of today’s top independent stars in the United States and abroad grew up reading about the Super 8 in PWI magazine and were inspired by the prospect of one day competing in the Super 8 and fulfilling their dreams of being a professional wrestler! The tournament also inspired pro hopefuls who otherwise might have been considered too small to be a pro as the tournament has highlighted the junior heavyweight style.

In 2011, for the first time ever, the Super 8 Tournament was held outside of Delaware and took place in Voorhees, NJ at the Flyers Skate Zone.

This year, April 7th 2012, the Super 8 comes home to the Greater Newark Boys & Girls Club in Newark, DE*, Bell Time 7 PM, which hosted the tournament from 2005-2010. They tournament was held at Saint Matthews Parish Hall in Wilmington, Delaware from 1997-2004!

Last year’s Super 8 (2011) saw Tommaso Ciampa emerge victorious after reaching the finals in 2009 and 2010, when he defeated 2010 Wrestling Observer Newsletter Rookie of the Year, Adam Cole, in a stellar battle. Since then, Ciampa has been on an undefeated streak at Ring of Honor (ROH) wrestling. Also, Austin Aries, at a cross roads in his career, returned to the tournament that gave him his first national exposure in 2004. Since then, Aries has gone on to be a full-time performer at TNA IMPACT! Wrestling. Shiima Xion (aka Zema Ion) has gone on to TNA IMPACT! Wrestling following last year’s Super 8.

This year, with the Super 8 Tournament returning home to Delaware, a whole new field of 8 competitors are looking to make a big name for themselves in hopes of future national success, as some so many past Super 8 performers have experienced. First competitor in the 16th Annual ECWA Super 8 on April 7th is the current reigning ECWA Heavyweight Champion, the “Greek God” Papadon. Papadon earned his spot in the tournament in a match against 2011 winner Tommaso Ciampa. Papadon defeated Ciampa on September 24, 2011 in Newark, Delaware at the 44th Anniversary show where it was the ECWA Title vs. an automatic spot in the Super 8. Papadon, a 12 year veteran of the sport and the East Coast independent circuit won the ECWA Heavyweight Championship his second night in the company when he defeated crowd favorite, the giant MEGA on March 5th, 2011 in Newark, Delaware and is undefeated in the ECWA! Since that time Papadon has defeated many greater challengers and many which were deemed ECWA Match of the Year candidates in its 2011 Year End Awards on-line poll including title defenses against Tommaso Ciampa,#1 Johnny Silver, Alex Reynolds, “Heart Killer” Chris Wylde, Chase Del Monte, Matt Saigon and more! Papadon was also voted by the fans of the 2011 ECWA as Wrestler of the Year. Papadon also has tournament experience as he participated in the 2011 Jeff Peterson Cup and has won the New York Wrestling Connection (NYWC) Master of the Mat twice. He is also a former NYWC Heavyweight Champion and also former NYWC FUSION Champion. While being one of the most hated men in ECWA history, ECWA faithful fans recognize and appreciate the skill he possesses.

Second competitor entered in this year’s field of 8, is the current ECWA Mid-Atlantic Champion, Kekoa the Flyin Hawaiian! Kekoa is a 5 year pro who after much success in the Lehigh Valley area independent wrestling promotions, Kekoa the Flyin Hawaiian debuted for the ECWA March 5th, 2011 and has taken the promotion by storm. Kekoa has consistently been a part of some of the best matches in ECWA in 2011 including bouts against Chris Wylde, Jonathan Gresham, Ricky “the Model” Martinez and two incredible matches with Adam Cole, the second of which was called Match of the Year by many ECWA fans. On Nov 19th, 2011, Kekoa captured his first ECWA championship when he won the ECWA Mid-Atlantic Title from “Heart Killer” Chris Wylde, who had held the championship for nearly a year and had only suffered two losses previously in ECWA to Tommaso Ciampa and “Greek God” Papadon. Kekoa, with all his momentum from an impressive 2011, heads toward the Super 8 Tournament looking to use the prestige of winning the tournament to catapult him to the next level. As a note of trivia, this is the first time in ECWA SUPER 8 history that both the Heavyweight and Mid-Atlantic champions have been entered into the tournament. Will both Papadon & Kekoa make it to the SUPER 8 with both their title reigns still intact?

The third competitor entered into the Super 8 this year is Bobby Fish!!! Bobby is a 9 year pro who was trained by Tony DeVito & LEGENDARY WWE Hall of Famer and 7-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Harley Race!!! Bobby works EVOLVE and other Northeast independent promotions stateside and is a regular in Japan for the NOAH promotion. Bobby has tournament experience as he was a participant in the 2011 Global League Tournament in Japan (NOAH) and was also a finalist in the Jeff Peterson Cup 2011 in Florida (FIP). On Saturday night, January 14, 2012, Bobby wrestled what was billed as the last pro wrestling event at the ECW Arena before renovations as he defeated Sami Callihan via submission for EVOLVE. Bobby is one of the most impressive pure grapplers today, a top athlete and definitely deserves to compete in the SUPER 8!!! The remaining five remaining competitors in the Super 8 will be announced in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

ECWA Jan 7, 2012 RESULTS

East Coast Wrestling Association, Newark, Delaware—Saturday night in Newark, Delaware, Mid-Atlantic Champion Kekoa “The Flyin’ Hawaiian” was named the second competitor in the 2012 ECWA Super 8 tournament, alongside ECWA heavyweight champion “Greek God” Papadon . Just minutes after proclaiming himself as the winner of this year’s tourney, he went on to defeat challenger Ricky “The Model” Martinez to retain his ECWA Mid-Atlantic championship as well. It was not all easy sailing for the Mid-Atlantic champion, however, as he found himself confronted by the Joel “Blackhart” Goodhart’s group – also including Tri-State Wrestling Alliance (TWA) champion Breaker Morant , Josh Dan iels, and “Beautiful” Bobby Shields – during the match. If not for a quick response from ECWA’s security staff, Kekoa ‘s night might not have ended quite as well as it started.

In similar fashion, Aida Marie looked incredible in fending off the challenge of a debuting Kimber Lee, only to be confronted after the match by The Blackheart contingent, as well. Fortunately for Aida Marie, however, several members of the ECWA roster were on hand to make the save, setting up a main-event match in which “Heart Killer” Chris Wylde and Ahtu took on former TWA stars Morant and Shields (with Dan iels and Goodhart).

Unfortunately for Wylde and Ahtu , this match devolved into a violent brawl inside and outside of the ring, in a fight that ultimately required the assistance of Kekoa before being ruled a no-contest that left the fans absolutely breathless.

Meanwhile, ECWA heavyweight champion Papadon refused to have his thunder stolen by Goodhart’s TWA invaders. Instead, he wrestled a strong, nearly 24-minute match against Alex Reynolds. This match is the beginning of a stretch run of sorts for Papadon , as he prepares to enter the 2012 Super 8 tournament in April as the champion.

It was also a night of strange twists and turns in the Greater Newark Boys and Girls club, as more than one of the promotion’s more popular performers turned their backs on the fans in a very bizarre fashion. Less than two months after losing their ECWA Unified tag team titles in November’s ECWA K-Cup tournament, Matt Saigon and Damian Dragon – Fusion-DS – shocked new ECWA tag champions The Midnight Sensations ( Chris Rockwell and Sam Shields ) with a series of vicious chair shots to their backs only seconds after helping them fend off a returning, massive Nigerian Nightmares team that took out the champions, laying them both out after an assault that left them prone and helpless. Maifu also delivered a brainbuster suplex on Snaifu from the top, onto an ECWA security team member. Before any of this, Rockwell and Shields turned in a huge ECWA Unified tag team title defense with their defeat of The Nightmares, who made their return on this night after a few years away. Rockwell and Shields shocked their opponents, pinning Saifu after a shoulder block off the top rope followed by a big splash. This was especially impressive considering The Nigerian Nightmares have only been defeated once in their entire ECWA and TWA tenure.

As if the fans were not disappointed enough in Dragon and Saigon ‘s drastic actions, however, longtime crowd favorite “The Fighting Paramedic” Corey Blaze proved that he was not to be trusted. For the first time in his career, Blaze turned his back on the ECWA fans – and his partner Kid America – on this night, costing them in their match against former ECWA tag team champions Saigon and Dragon. Said Blaze of his longtime fans, “You are all scumbags, and I have come to hate each and every one of you.”

In other news, longtime ECWA competitor Danny E ( Dan Eckos ) made his singles debut in his old stomping grounds tonight in Newark, Delaware, in a losing effort to Bandido Jr, and Cole Callaway defeated Mr. Ooh La La in a “Loser Gets a Makeover” match, to the delight of the Delaware fans in attendance.
